What is EU?

Experience Unlimited (EU) is a no-fee career resource center and job search networking group for business and technical professionals in the San Francisco Bay Area. EU is sponsored by the California Employment Development Department (EDD), established over 25 years ago and is supported and managed by EU volunteer members. All aspects of EU are in support of our core values of being a safe, supportive and strengthening environment for our members during their job search or career transition.

The Contra Costa Chapter of EU (EUCCC) primarily serves the needs of professionals in Contra Costa County, however our membership consists of professionals from Alameda, Marin and Sonoma Counties as well, and is centered in Walnut Creek and Concord. A list of other EU chapters may be found on the California EDD site by clicking here.

Services Provided

For job seekers, Experience Unlimited offers a wide variety of workshops covering resume writing, interviewing skills, LinkedIn and social media strategies, salary negotiation, and other related job search topics. EU members have access to job listings, networking events and an office environment (located at the East Bay Works Concord office) with phones, fax and Internet-connected computers to assist them in securing the perfect job or contract. EU members are entitled to services at no charge. Weekly Tuesday meetings (held at our Walnut Creek site) consist of orientation for prospective members, networking, workshops and guest speakers covering various job search related topics that help during this transitional period.

For hiring managers, Experience Unlimited is a no cost resource to find educated, trained, white-collar professionals. We welcome staffing agencies, corporate and government hiring managers to participate in our Tuesday meetings, present job opportunities and meet our members.

Success Teams

Success Teams are smaller, dedicated groups that are formed to provide members with extra motivation and support during the job search. Helping each other in developing job search action plans and supporting them in achieving those goals. Core Values of success teams are consistent with overall EU values, and to share best practices, enhance and expedite job search action plans and accountability to the group and oneself to achieve individual goals.

That reminds me of . . .

Did you know? Linkage statements, used correctly, can connect almost all interview questions to your PARs.

  • Colleagues would probably tell you...
  • Peers would probably tell you...
  • My boss would probably tell you...
  • Subordinates would tell you...
  • That reminds me of ...
  • That's difficult to say, but ... ...
  • For example, ...

It takes practice, and you need to have a grab bag of PARs in your hip pocket, including 2-3 that speak to "learning opportunities." The ability to leverage this technique can be a powerful way to make you shine.
